Displays and Dashboard
Living-room media
| Component | Model and specification | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Television | Samsung QN65S90DAFXZA; 65-inch S90D 4K OLED | Living-room display |
| Media player | Apple TV 4K, third generation; 128 GB Wi-Fi + Ethernet; A15 Bionic | Streaming and self-hosted media client |
The external media player is the primary interface for streaming and self-hosted media libraries. Separating player and display keeps the household media client independent of the television’s built-in application lifecycle.
Household dashboard
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| Display | Pioneer PN43-R851-26U, 43-inch 4K Roku TV |
| Dashboard computer | Dell OptiPlex 5050 Micro |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-6500T |
| Memory | 16 GB DDR4 |
| Storage | 256 GB NVMe SSD |
| Operating system | Debian with XFCE kiosk session |
The dashboard computer signs into a kiosk session automatically and presents a purpose-built Home Assistant household view on the dedicated display.
The dashboard PC shuts down at midnight and schedules an RTC wake for 7:00 a.m. This avoids running it overnight while allowing the display to return without daily manual intervention. The television’s own power behavior is separate from the PC schedule.
