Power and Resilience
Current power arrangement
The rack PDU provides distribution and surge protection. There is no UPS. A utility outage therefore stops Proxmox, TrueNAS, and the network without battery runtime or a coordinated battery-triggered shutdown.
The dedicated dashboard PC follows a separate efficiency schedule: it shuts down at midnight and schedules an RTC wake for 7:00 a.m. The always-on servers do not use that daily power schedule.
Known failure domains
| Failure | Current protection |
|---|---|
| One data disk in a mirror | ZFS mirror redundancy |
| Accidental dataset change | ZFS snapshots, depending on dataset policy |
| Broken application or VM-local state | Daily application exports and volume archives |
| Complete ZFS pool loss | Monthly external copy for selected important datasets |
| Complete site loss | No off-site copy yet |
| Utility outage | Surge protection only; no battery runtime |
| Missed service degradation | Dashboards exist; declarative alerts are incomplete |
